We were looking for an all natural toothpaste because we don't want any fluoride in our body due to it being a poison. We had been buying Kingfisher Toothpaste but we really fancied the idea of making our own.
We stumbled across this recipe on www.organic-beauty-recipes.com and ordered the ingredients we needed. We used kaolin clay in ours and we are totally converted. It leaves our teeth cleaner than any toothpaste we have ever used.
We used to use a mouthwash afterwards but with this toothpaste there is no need at all. Our mouths stayed fresh all day. We were amazed.
It's really easy and only takes about 10 minutes to make.
We keep ours in small individual jars. Just make sure its kept out of direct sunlight and sealed between uses. A bathroom cabinet is an ideal place.
Ingredients
- 7 tablespoons of white clay like kaolin or bentonite clay
- 3 tablespoons of mineral water
- 15 drops of peppermint essential oil
- 20 drops of green sweet mint (spearmint) essential oil
- 5 drops of tea tree essential oils or cinnamon essential oils
- 1 teaspoon of coconut oil melted
- 3 teaspoons of xylitol
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda
Instructions
- Melted the coconut oil if solid in a double boiler
- Once melted, add all the ingredients except the water.
- Once everything is well combined, slowly add the water until it forms a thick paste.
- That's it, this DIY natural toothpaste recipe is done and you can enjoy brushing your teeth with your new homemade toothpaste!
Enjoy!
